Indian left and secular idea in India

The idea of secularism spelt out by the Indian Leftist establishment has its own sick meaning. Like in west, it does not mean separation of the Church and state as there is no Church type institution in India in the first place. Predominant Hindu religion by its very nature is different from Abraham faiths and does not have any church, book or a central dogma to rule over the State. Hindu religious leaders never enjoyed power Vatican enjoyed in Europe during middle ages. Yet the idea of secularism became one of the most politically important concepts for the last two decades in India. The name of our republic was not decorated with the word “Secular” (and another word “socialist”) from the start. This ornamental word was added to our country’s name along with the word “Socialist” during emergency by Mrs. Gandhi. The addition got to do how the leftist establishment works. The establishment gives a great stress for the slogans. The chief motive is to reduce everything into simple and noble sounding words. All despotic communist regimes have words “Peoples” “Democratic” in their name. By using these words they have become “Democratic” and their rule became “peoples” rule. Similarly any one against them is a center revolutionary, petty burguava, anti people, capitalists, fascist, etc. So the word Secular in the constitution of India is intended to be used as a slogan and nothing else. Left in fact considers religion is something like Opium. I do not know then what kind of secularism left is preaching. Is it state with no consideration to religion on the people. Then it is ok. But if it means brotherly relations between all the religions then I wonder does secularism for the left in India mean brotherhood of drug addicts. Once such bad name is given he/she is automatically evil. Once they give a bad tag to their opponents or give themselves some good branch they fell they can do what ever they want. You find them doing the same thing for the last century. During emergency, opponents of leftists in INC came from Jana Sangh and mainly from Hindu right. To demonize these people the word “Secular” is used as an addition our countries name. Other than that there is no noble intention the word “Secular” in our countries name. Mrs. Gandhi gave this tag to our country’s name, while at the same time when she deprived us all our rights including right to life by suspending them in the name of emergency. Our judiciary found no objection to these additions (just like it found anything wrong with the emergency). From the start the INC under Nehru saw emergence and consolidation of right wing in Indian political space as the main threat to his brand of leftist politics. Communism, an alien concept to India, is indirectly introduced by Centralized planning, license permit quota Raj, removal of right to personal property. At the same time, right was demonized first as killers of Gandhi etc and with the allegation of killing Gandhi on its head, Jana Sangh failed to emerge as a national level alternative to the INC for decades. As a result Nehruvian Economic policy was continued to run its disastrous course unopposed. In any country taken over by Communists, teachers, writers, artists are either eliminated (most of the times physically from this world) or converted to make way for the new set of communist ideas and Yesmen (and women) of the party. In India, since there is no overt take over of the government by the communists, they used the slow and gradual infiltration method. Within a couple of decades after independences leftists occupied many strategic positions in the universities, artist circles, etc. Looking back in time, after independence, we find almost no writer, journalists, artist who is not a leftist held any position of importance. It is very difficult now to understand why there was no opposition to these communist ideas at that time. But from the present experience we can deduct that every spear of opinion making by that time is controlled owned by leftists and hence lack of opposition. Perhaps the greatest crime leftists have done is their continued action in the manipulation of Indian history. They have taken baton from the Colonial powers in this. The entire history written by them is only an extension of what colonial powers have written about us. Without any basis they have adopted their ideas to Indian caste structure which was never static in the first place. The communists have supported the theme advocated by Church and colonial rulers that upper castes had and will suppress the lower castes. Some of themes left either created or perpetuated are: 1. Aryans invaded India and killed and enslaved Dravidians who are natives. 2. Present day upper castes are Aryans and lower castes people are natives and earlier Dravidians. 3. Buddhism and Jainism were destroyed by Hindus. 4. Lower caste Hindus converted into Islam to escape upper caste persecution. 5. Entire caste system is shown as upper castes surprising lawyer castes. 6. Foreign invaders glorified and countless incidents of genocide of inflicted on our ancestors are suppressed. Generation after generation our children learned this version of history. But in the meanwhile world has moved on. The Indo China War debacle broke Nehru irrecoverably. Open support extended to China by Indian Communists (from CPM) open eyes of quite a few in India but still left has not lost much of entrenched glamour among intellectual and student circles. After Nehru and short term of Seashore Mrs. Gandhi became PM She had to take support from the communist to against her opponents in INC. With this the left has survived after Nehru and attained complete control over the policies of the nation. Those who are left of the center in the Congress (they are in majority) continued to contribute to the power of this establishment. Most of the news papers particular English Newspapers already drifted so for to left and as of now the editorials read like communist manifesto. Actions of Sanjay Gandhi in forcible family planning etc created some rift between the INC and Muslims. In 1977 it believed that a large section of Muslims deserted them and voted for Janata Party in 1977. Janata experiment failed due to many reasons. One of them being Dual membership. The leftist in the Janata Party saw to that this issue which has no relation to the governance is made a major one rest is history. After emergency the slogan of secularism was not major one like today as there was no political reason. Mrs. Gandhi tried to improve her relations with the right and even attending the function of RSS for the Bharat Mata temple. It is reported that time when Shabuddin approached her for raising some “Islamic” issue she has told him that he and his kind should learn living on equal terms with Hindus. For few years when the regional parties like TDP were emerging as main threat to Congress and INC immediately brought “National Integration” slogan to beat these political forces. At that time even with the excesses of Emergency INC with good grip on the Muslim vote bank had no great need to use Secularism slogan. After the fall of Janata government erstwhile Jana Sangh members formed BJP with Atalji as President. Atalji tried to distance the BJP from RSS base and as a result BJP’s performance in 1980 and 1985 elections were dismal with even Atalji himself losing from Gwalior. With the untimely death of Mrs. Gandhi, Rajiv a political novice became PM with massive majority. Lal Krishna Advoni became head of BJP and trying to revitalize the right. Several regional parties rose from the ashes of Janata Party. Lohiates like Mulayam, Lalu are now middle aged people looking to build their base. Left is still sound and is in control of the economic policy. The Jihad in Afghanistan is going on and Indian Muslim politicos and Imams are looking for a greater role in India. Out of no where Supreme Court delivered its Judgment in Shabanu case and the country will never the same again. More later.
